FULL DESCRIPTION:Admissions Assistant
Manchester City Centre
£11.45 per hour
Our client is a Manchester based University, and are seeking an Admissions Assistant.
Overall purpose of the job:
The postholder will be the first point of contact for admissions enquires to the School for undergraduate and postgraduate taught enquiries. They will process applications and contribute towards conversion activities to help ensure the Faculty meets its ambitious targets for home and overseas student recruitment in accordance with the strategic objectives of the University.
The postholder will work alongside the Faculty Student Marketing and Recruitment team to effectively support the needs of prospective students and ensure that the School recruits high- calibre eligible students from appropriate national and international markets.
Key responsibilities, accountabilities or duties:
•Respond to day-to-day admissions enquiries from all prospective students, their families, teachers, academic and support staff, in person and by telephone or email, providing assistance where appropriate or directing them to the relevant source of information.
•Update student admissions records with appropriate reference to current data protection legislation.
•Process applications in line with specified criteria.
•Verify qualifications are internationally recognised and that the required English language level has been achieved.
•Select applicants for open day attendance and interview as appropriate.
•Generate interview letters to applicants, record replies and maintain accurate records.
•Assist with the organisation of interview/open days for prospective applicants and their parents/guests.
•Arrange bespoke interviews and tours in liaison with academic staff and student ambassadors.
•Attend interview/open days and register students and parents.
•Prepare information on Welcome Week and registration activities to be sent to new students prior to arrival and prepare additional information for collection by new students on arrival.
•Record admissions statistics and interviewer success statistics for the Admissions Team.
•Maintain information areas (Blackboard/Internet etc.) for students/staff in relation to recruitment/admissions.
•Provide efficient and effective administrative support to the Admissions Manager, Admissions Administrators, Admissions Officers, Programme Directors and Interviewers.
•Assist in the updating of admissions publications and publicity as required. Ensure such changes meet deadlines and incorporate appropriate updates.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
•Experience of working with administrative processes in a customer facing office environment, ideally with knowledge and/or experience of student admissions.
•Experience of working in a process driven team environment, demonstrating an ability to be flexible and provide support for colleagues.
•A high degree of accuracy for maintaining accurate database records and filing systems.
•Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality and work with sensitive data in a secure manner.
•Good communication skills, demonstrating an ability to deal with a wide range of people.
•Flexible and responsive to customer needs and able to provide information and guidance whilst maintaining confidentiality.
•Good organisational skills, and able to prioritise work in a busy environment and meet strict deadlines.
•Experience of working in a team environment and able to support colleagues in the delivery of objectives.
•Demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail.
•Demonstrate numeracy skills and the ability to identify problems and resolve issues effectively.
•Good computer skills.
•Demonstrable commitment to the University’s strategy, vision and values.
•Knowledge of good customer service work practice.
